        At the end of the 20th century, the rise of cast high-speed steel rolls has become a major event in the history of roll development in the world, because it surpassed the high-chromium cast iron and high-chromium steel rolls we are developing at an extremely fast speed, and quickly occupied most of the market. For many years, generations of roll makers have tried to make the carbides in the roll structure dispersed and isolated. The successful development of high-speed steel rolls has made this dream come true, and the traditional Fe3C (M3C) and M7C3 carbonization The material is changed into MCM2C and M6C carbides with better performance, which greatly improves the comprehensive performance of the working layer of the roll. When we lamented the rapid development of international roll manufacturing technology, we have already been distanced by foreign countries. People of insight in the domestic roll industry must fully face up to this reality and concentrate financial, material and human resources to develop cast high-speed steel rolls required by modern rolling mills.

      Since the 1990s, the most eye-catching and huge economic benefit of the world's roll development is the successful development of cast high-speed steel series rolls.

      One is that cast high-speed steel rolls are used on the finish rolling front stand of a hot strip continuous rolling mill, and their lifespan is three times that of high-chromium cast iron rolls. Japan uses high-speed steel rolls in almost all hot-strip continuous rolling and finishing front stands, and European and American countries also use high-speed steel rolls in large quantities on these rolling mills. With the further improvement of the material and performance of high-speed steel rolls, high-speed steel rolls are advancing from the finishing front frame to the rear frame of the hot strip tandem mill to replace high-nickel-chromium infinite chilled composite rolls.

      The second is the application of cast semi-high-speed steel rolls in hot strip roughing mills. The service life is 3 to 4 times higher than that of cast semi-steel rolls, and 1.5 to 2.5 times higher than that of high-chromium steel rolls, and makes rough-rolled strips. Shape and surface quality are improved.

      The 1% Cr cast high-speed steel roll produced by the CPC method abroad is used on the first and third cold strip continuous rolling mills after quenching and high-temperature tempering, and its service life is longer than that of 5% Cr forged steel cold-rolled work rolls. several times.
