2. Taking chilled cast iron rolls as an example, chilled cast iron rolls can be divided into ordinary chilled cast iron rolls and alloy chilled cast iron rolls according to the type of white layer matrix . de low alloy chilled cast iron rolls. Chilled cast iron is often used to manufacture various rolls with large structural dimensions and large machining allowances. Turning requires greater depths of cut and feed rates, which requires greater tool strength and process system rigidity. 

3. Selection of cutting tool materials for chilled cast iron processing

The surface hardness of chilled cast iron is about HRC60, high hardness and high brittleness, and there are many hard spots and sand inclusions on the surface of the workpiece material, so the tool material is required to have high red hardness, impact resistance, good wear resistance and high bending strength and thermal conductivity. big. Therefore, choose a tool:

 ① Carbide cutting tool: Due to the characteristics of the material, the hardness of the carbide cutting body is about HSD100, and because there is a certain drop between the workpiece and the cutting block before processing, the suitable processing range is ductile iron with relatively low hardness ( <HSD70 or lower), and it is almost impossible to machine cooled cast iron with a hardness of about HSD85.

②Ceramic material tool: Due to the high brittleness of Chinese ceramic tools, the low transverse fracture activity strength, and the weak development of the ability to withstand huge impact loads, when the cutting hardness is significantly lower than HRC55 and a small feed rate is used , ceramic tools can be selected. Analytical processing. Processing, but the slab is generally accompanied by trachoma. Casting defects such as sanding, easy to break when using ceramic tools.

③Superhard cutting tool: The utility model has the characteristics of good cutting performance, good hardness, fracture resistance and wear resistance. Can greatly improve the cutting efficiency of chilled cast iron surface. Compared with cemented carbide tools, cubic boron nitride tools have higher hardness and better wear resistance. The disadvantages of cubic boron nitride tools are as brittle as ceramic tools, using non-metallic binders, and cubic boron nitride is precise. It is made of powder, which increases the toughness of the tool, has strong impact resistance and excellent fracture resistance compared with ceramic tools.
