        Roll manufacturing understands that during the use of rolls, various factors often cause various defects such as roll wear, cracks, peeling, and breakage, which have a serious impact on our production process. So what is the solution? The following roll manufacturing will specifically summarize some common problems and treatment methods of rolls:

  1. Roll wear

  Mechanical wear is caused by the friction between the roll surface and the rolled piece, thermal wear is caused by the softening, melting or evaporation of the surface layer caused by high temperature, and corrosion wear is caused by the chemical action, electrochemical action and oxidation of water on the roll surface The action causes the loss and migration of surface materials.

  2. Rolling crack

  Accidents such as stacking steel, sticking steel, and rear-end collisions occurred during the rolling process, resulting in a sharp rise in local temperature, resulting in thermal stress and microstructural stress exceeding the limit, resulting in thermal cracks. When the tongue is rolled, its temperature is lower than that of the intermediate rolled piece, which will cause sudden changes in thermal stress and rolling stress, resulting in impact cracks. During the rolling process, cracks will also be formed due to the overlapping rolling of the scale and the abrasion of the guide rail.

  3. Roll peeling

  The formation and propagation of cracks is accelerated, and after reaching a certain length and depth, spalling will result.

  4. Rolling break

  1) Roller casting defects

  In roll centrifugal casting, centrifugal vibration causes layered segregation of composition and structure, resulting in rapid crack propagation and roll breakage.

  2) Defects in the roll structure

  Unqualified chemical composition and improper cooling rate will lead to defects such as composition segregation and high cementite, but the mechanical properties will decrease and eventually lead to fracture.

  3) Processing technology

  When the roll is forged, the pressure is too low or the deformation is unreasonable, resulting in incomplete forging of the roll core and the formation of transgranular cracks.

  Roll manufacturing and its processing methods:

  1. The roll should be made of wear-resistant and heat-resistant materials, and corresponding heat treatment and logistics chemical treatment measures should be taken to make the structure uniform and increase the surface wear resistance. Check the roller hardness, sound waves, etc. Make sure it is free from defects such as cracks before rolling.

  2. When the roll is turned, remove the residual oxide layer and cracks to reduce the roll surface cracks and peeling.

  3. Reasonably arrange the roll changing cycle, select and match the rolls, formulate a detailed roll overhaul plan, control the overhaul volume within the required range, reasonably arrange the cooling water spray range, control the cooling water volume, and ensure that the roll cooling temperature is controlled within the normal range .

  4. Strengthen equipment spot inspection, prevent rolling equipment accidents, reduce accidents such as steel jamming, stacking of steel, and rear-end collisions, strictly control rolling temperature, prevent low-temperature steel from passing through the rolling mill, and avoid rolling force overload.

Roll manufacturing reminds everyone to correctly judge the number of uses, so as to extend the life of the roll. The number of times between two grindings of high-speed steel rolls depends on the maintenance of the oxide film and roughness on the roll surface after each rolling. Generally, the front frame can be used for 3 to 7 times, the rear frame can be used for 2 to 4 times, and the CPC high-speed steel roll can be used for more than 10 times.
