  1. High roll

  The cutting part of the high-speed steel roll tool is in direct contact with the roll for cutting, and is subject to great cutting pressure and impact. It rubs against the roll intensely under high temperature and high pressure, and the condition is very poor. High roller processing tools usually use hard alloy materials such as diamond and cubic boron nitride, the cutting speed is 10-20 times higher than that of ordinary hard alloy tools, and the processed surface roughness value is small. CBN cutting tools have superior properties such as higher hardness, thermal stability and chemical inertness, good red transmission shape and wide band gap than diamond.

  1) High hardness. Cubic boron nitride (CBN) has high hardness and wear resistance second only to diamond, and is currently the material for high-roll processing tools in rolling enterprises. At present, there are two types of synthesis of CBN tools: wafer (synthesized by CBN and adhesive), composite sheet), CBN and adhesive synthesis, and composited into cemented carbide sheet). Cermet-based binders and ultra-fine-grained CBN cutting tools are commonly used in high-roller processing, and the commonly used varieties are MBN3 500 and MBN5 000. Practice has also proved that these two brands of CBN cutting tools are the best choice for processing high-speed steel rolls.

  2) Sufficient strength and toughness. The material of the cutting part is subject to large cutting force and impact force during cutting. So it has enough strength and toughness. There are two types of polycrystalline diamond (PCD), natural and artificial, and most industries use artificial diamond as the material for knives. However, artificial diamond is brittle, has poor impact resistance, and requires high precision and stability of machine tools. At the same time, diamond tools have poor heat resistance and strong affinity with iron elements. Therefore, diamond tools are mainly used for processing non-ferrous metals and their alloy materials. , suitable for the processing of iron-based metals, and the thermal stability of CBN tools is twice that of diamond, with excellent chemical stability, bending strength and fracture toughness between cemented carbide and ceramic tools, suitable for the processing of steel materials.

  3) High wear resistance and heat resistance. Generally speaking, the higher the hardness of the tool material, the better the wear resistance. Wear resistance is closely related to heat resistance, and higher hardness at high temperatures indicates better heat resistance. CBN knives can maintain high hardness at high temperatures, that is, good red hardness. In addition, since it is resistant to plastic deformation at high temperatures, the wear resistance is also high.

  4) Good thermal conductivity. Tool grades with good thermal conductivity are also very resistant to thermal shock and thermal cracking. Since the thermal stability of the CBN composite insert can maintain good red hardness at around 1,000, it is basically not affected by cutting heat.

  5) Good manufacturability and economy. CBN cutters are CBN cutters synthesized with CBN micropowder and a small amount of binder under high temperature and high pressure conditions by artificial methods. They are suitable for manufacturing cutters of various shapes and angles, and are ideal cutters for CNC machine tools.
